Sig has announced the new P365 micro-compact pistol in 9mm.  The polymer frame, striker-fired pistol comes standard with 10 round flush and extended magazines, with an optional 12 round extended magazine available.  Concealable and lightweight at 17.8 ounces, with a 3.1” barrel, and a width of only one inch, it should be a joy to carry.
Glock began delivering Gen 5 models 17, 19, 26, and 34 in 9mm prior to the SHOT Show, but the eagerly anticipated Glock 19X is their latest offering.  Combining the frame of the full-size Glock 17, with the slide and 4.02” barrel of the G19, this is a new civilian variant of the handgun developed for the Army Modular Pistol program.  The frame and corrosion-resistant slide coating are a coyote brown color like the military version.  One 17 round and two 19 round extended magazines are included.  The pistol has many Generation 5 features, including ambidextrous slide stop, no finger grooves, and the enhanced polygonal rifling and barrel crown for greater accuracy.
Ruger is introducing the SP101 revolver in 9mm using moon clips, and also a version of the Super Redhawk chambered in 10mm.  Walther will have a PPQ Subcompact in 9mm with 10 round and extended 15 round magazines.
Smith and Wesson has a new family of Military and Police pistols, the 2.0 line.  M&P Shield 2.0 in 9mm and .40 S&W have been released.  The latest models come with subtle upgrades, like improved texture, better trigger pull, and tactile and audible trigger reset.  The most recent announcement in the line is the new M&P .380 Shield.  It features an easy-to-rack slide, easy-to-load magazine, light single-action trigger pull, grip safety, optional thumb safety, and eight round magazines.  All these features are aimed at individuals who currently have trouble operating most pistols due to lack of hand strength.

                   Top New Guns for 2018

The annual Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade Show takes place each year in January, giving firearms manufacturers the chance to show off their new offerings.  Here are some of the top new firearms.

Both Remington and Mossberg are producing versions of their pump action defense models that use detachable box magazines.  Remington announced the Model 870DM, and Mossberg the Model 590M, which will have 5, 10, 15, and 20 round double-stack magazines.

Perhaps the most unusual new shotgun is from Tavor, the new TS12.  It is a gas operated semi-auto with a unique bullpup design that features three rotating magazine tubes for a total possible capacity of 15+1.  All controls are ambidextrous, and even ejection is reversible for left-hand operation.  MLOK accessory attachment points, choke tubes (interchangeable with Benelli/Beretta), and a rail for optics are standard.

New rifles being unveiled this year include many AR platforms in .224 Valkyrie, the new long range caliber from Federal.  Savage is releasing the MSR15 in .224 Valkyrie, with a mid-length gas system and 18" barrel.  CMMG, MPA, Ashley Precision, and others will be chambering rifles in this new caliber as well.

Brownells has announced a new line of "Retro" AR rifles built like classic models from the first Armalites to the -A1 style.  Rock Island Armory will be importing new shotguns from Turkey from classic over-unders to AR-style semi-autos.  Savage is making 110 Scout models in .223, .308, and .450 Bushmaster.

Ruger has announced a new version of its Pistol Caliber Carbine.  The popularity and low cost of 9mm ammo has sparked new interest in 9mm rifles.  The new PC9 is a takedown model (similar to the 10/22TD) and besides Ruger 9mm pistol magazines, it also comes with a magazine well adaptor to accept Glock 9mm mags.

Next we'll look at new handguns...
